Day 1

Arrive into Boston Airport where you’ll be met by your leaders and the rest of your People to People Delegation.  Head into the city, check into your hotel and attend your Welcome Dinner to get to know your fellow world travelers.

Day 2

This morning is your first unique People to People moment with a workshop visit to a Biotech company. Here, discover what groundbreaking research is being worked on and how it’s helping society. After lunch it is time to get on board a bus that floats with a Boston Duck Tour experience around the city. See the sights of Boston from both land and water.

Meet with a local STEM Association and debate and discuss the future of science and the importance of science in modern day.

Day 3

Meet like-minded individuals with a visit to a local STEM Association. Debate and discuss the future of science and the importance of science in modern day. The Science Museum in Boston is world famous and this afternoon you will have an opportunity to visit and interact with the displays exhibitions.

Day 4

“What part in our world does Technology play”? Discover an expert’s view to this question as you visit a company which is at the forefront of technology. This afternoon, stop at a number of sites along Boston’s Freedom Trail and learn about the brave people who shaped our nation. Discover the rich history of the American Revolution, as it began in Boston, where every step tells a story. After dinner it is time to board your overnight flight to Iceland–The Land of Fire and Ice.

Experience the Blue Lagoon

Day 5

Your local guide will welcome you to Iceland and escort you to your private bus. Upon arrival into Iceland, we will travel to Viking World where you will enjoy light breakfast. At Viking World you will see five exhibition museums including a settlement zoo, a playground, an outdoor classroom and the magnificent Viking ship. Next we drive to the Blue Lagoon, a unique formation with pleasantly warm mineral-rich geothermal water in a middle of a black lava field. The high natural levels of silica and minerals give the Lagoon its rich blue color. The facilities include modern changing rooms and showers, an indoor geothermal pool, a winter garden, restaurants and other services. A visit to the Blue Lagoon is invigorating whether one bathes there surrounded by snow in the middle of the winter or in the long summer daylight. We stop there for approximately an hour for a memorable swim. Continuing to Reykjavík we check in at the hotel.

Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Plant

Day 6

We begin the day by driving to Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Plant. The Geothermal exhibition at Hellisheidi Power Plant explores the utilization of geothermal energy in Iceland. This interactive exhibition is presented via
multimedia installations, wall displays and presentations. From there we continue to Ljosafoss Power Plant to experience the wonder of energy. The exhibition is interactive with an emphasis on play and experience where
the nature and characteristics of electricity are shown in multiple forms and guests are led through the world of electricity in new and creative ways. Next we drive to Fridheimar Greenhouse where we will gain key insight into the
processes of greenhouse horticulture. We continue to Gullfoss (The Golden Waterfall), Strokkur (Geysers) and Þingvellir. Þingvellir is the site of the world’s oldest democratic parliament founded in 930 and the beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the dividing fault line between two of the earth’s tectonic plates.

Experience the LAVA Volcano & earthquake center, an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland.

Day 7

We drive from Reykjavik through the fertile farmlands of South Iceland, towards the majestic mountains, including snow shrouded Hekla and the ice capped volcano Eyjafjallajökull, last active in 2010. Next we visit the LAVA Volcano & earthquake center, an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland. Next we visit the spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss, before going past Dyrhólaey, a magnificent rocky headland with sheer cliffs, with a huge wave cut gap in its ocean facing tip on our way to the beautiful sited village of Vík, where we will stop for lunch. After the break we’ll head for the sea shore before we return to Reykjavík. The sea shore is flanked by steep bird cliffs rising above theblack, wave-pounded sands. In the sea just outside the village of Vík are Reynisdrangar rocks – 66 meters above sea level at their highest. From Reynisfjara we drive towards Reykjavik with one final shore stop at Solheimajokull glacier.

Day 8

This morning it is time to fly to London. Your Delegation Manager will welcome you to London and take you on a specially arranged orientation of the city culminating in a trip to the sky on-board the Coca-Cola London Eye. Get to know the capital of England during an insightful tour, showcasing the very best of a city bursting with history, art and culture. Marvel at world famous landmarks including the Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Take part in the Opening Ceremony of the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF). Founded in 1959, LIYSF aims to give a deeper insight into science and its applications for the benefit of all mankind and to develop a greater understanding between young people of all nations.

Day 9

Please note: June 22, 2019 and July 8, 2019 departures will participate in an interactive forensics workshop at Imperial College. You’ll work alongside a professional detective to learn about the sciences behind forensics. You’ll have the opportunity to work in small groups to solve a crime and present your theory.

Day 11

Take part in a scientific workshop in association with one of London’s major science facilities. In the afternoon visit the Tower of London, where you’ll find over a thousand years of history. See the sparkling Crown Jewels in all their glory as well as the world famous Beefeaters. Spend an evening enjoying a play in London’s celebrated West End.

Day 15

Set out to Paris on-board the Eurostar, speeding under the English Channel, inside one of the most impressive engineering accomplishments of recent times. Travel through the largest under-sea portion of any tunnel in the world, seventy-five meters below the sea bed. Welcome to Paris to visit two very diverse, but equally impressive, architectural and engineering feats. Climb the Eiffel Tower, which dominates the Parisian skyline. Gaze out over the City of Lights from this giant artistic masterpiece. Following your first taste of world renowned Parisian cuisine, head to an island in the middle of the Seine, and visit the famous Notre Dame Cathedral. Marvel at its breathtaking design, while also exploring the wealth of art on show inside.

Visit La Cite de Science, the biggest science museum in Europe. Highlights include the planetarium, a genuine submarine, an IMAX theater and a whole host of special areas and activities for students and teenagers. No visit to Paris can be complete without a visit to The Louvre. This beautiful palace is home to the Mona Lisa and is one of the most well-known and well-respected art galleries in the world. Explore the museum’s treasures and marvel at a spectacular collection of artwork.
