Day 2

President Eisenhower spent 8 years in Washington, DC as President, and this is where the concept of People to People came about. Go behind the scenes on a tour of The United States Capitol which is a monument, a working office building, and one of the most recognizable symbols of representative democracy in the world. With your professional guide, travel around the city and learn more about how this area became a federal district and the capital of the United States of America.

Day 3

Today you will visit with a member of the US Government to talk about the importance of Global Peace and how each of you can play an active role in supporting the mission of People to People International.   Visit The Smithsonian, which is the world’s largest museum and research complex. Take some time to venture around some of the 11 world-class museums along the National Mall.  Tonight, you will board your international flight to Europe.

Day 4

Upon your arrival to Scotland, you will meet your delegation manager and begin to explore Edinburgh. Originally, known as Castle Rock, you will be introduced to this beautiful city from the vantage point of the historic fortress that is Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site is home of the Honours of Scotland, Stone of Destiny, Mons Meg and One o’clock Gun.

Meet a Highlander

Day 5

Discover for yourself Edinburgh’s deepest secret; a warren of hidden streets frozen in time since the 17th Century. During your tour of ancient Edinburgh, hear some of the gruesome tales of the residents from this time, which is nothing like the modern Edinburgh you see today. This afternoon it is time to try Scotland’s national dish – haggis. After dinner you will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime People to People unique experience meeting a true Scottish Highlander. Learn how to tie a traditional Scottish kilt and use weapons that the Scots used to battle the Romans and defeat the English.

Day 6

Today you will travel from Scotland to England and along the way you will touch one of the greatest monuments to the power of the Roman Empire. Hadrian’s Wall ran for 73 miles across open country dividing present day England from Scotland. You will stop at Birdoswald Roman Fort.  This is the perfect place to see the longest continuous remaining stretch of this magnificent World Heritage Site.

In the morning you’ll explore the ancient Roman city of Chester, before heading to Warwick Castle to experience your medieval encampment. See the very best of London as you cruise past Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and beneath the iconic Tower Bridge. Explore Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus before watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. Visit the Tower of London and meet a world famous Yeoman Warder. Cross the English Channel via the Chunnel and you will find yourself in Paris. You’re first stop is the Louvre, where you will see a wealth of art and priceless treasures on show in Europe’s largest museum, known for Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece the Mona Lisa. This evening dine in the Louvre’s “Carousel Restaurants du Monde,” which showcases different cuisines from around the globe.

Day 12

It’s time for a trip to a Dutch farm to learn how cheese and clogs are made. Explore the farm, meet the animals, and get involved in a number of engaging games. Here you’ll be able to purchase the ultimate memento of your trip—personalized clogs! After lunch, visit Anne Frank’s House for a fascinating and deeply moving glimpse into the Holocaust. This visit and the feelings it creates will stay with you forever, and you’ll understand the importance of global peace. Round off the day with a nighttime canal cruise that allows you to see Amsterdam from a completely different perspective.

You’re halfway through your epic journey with 5 countries under your belt and 5 more to go. This evening find yourself in Berlin, Germany. Take in the sights and sounds of the German capital as you stroll down the Kurfürstendamm. You will get a glimpse of the city that now represents a varied, cultural treasure trove, but was once re-born out of war and political division during the 20th Century.

Kick off an action-packed day by heading out on a guided tour of the city. Bustle through alleys, quaint bridges, and narrow canals, and see the Basilica San Marco and the Bridge of Sighs. Learn about Venice’s most celebrated exports as you take part in a Murano glass blowing demonstration. Sample an array of tasty pasta dishes for lunch before navigating Venice’s picture perfect canals by Gondola. Soak up the atmosphere of Rome’s ancient streets as you work up an appetite for one of Italy’s most celebrated products: Gelato.

The final country in your adventure is Greece. Today you will fly from Rome to Athens. Set your sights on the majestic Acropolis and magnificent Parthenon, which perfectly embody the glory of ancient Greece. Following some free time, put your dancing shoes on! Learn the fundamentals of the Greek dance Sirtaki. Enjoy dinner with local families and delve deeper into Greek culture by trying some typical Greek dishes.
