DAY 1Welcome to Ushuaia
Meet up with your like-minded traveling companions in the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia. This adventure of a lifetime begins at the southernmost town on earth, which is a suitably thematic location in which to begin your exploration of the Jewels of Patagonia.
Settle into your hotel then tuck into your first taste of local cuisine during dinner at a traditional restaurant overlooking the Beagle Channel. Get to know the group, or simply sit back, relax, and soak up the atmosphere.
DAY 2Back to Nature
Following breakfast, head to the famous Tierra de Fuego National Park for an awe-inspiring trek through magnificent landscapes, passing by the zigzagging Pipo River and the Macarena Cascade, while your local guide showcases the hidden gems of the park.After visiting a local rural school, it’s time for a tasty bite to eat. There’s no time to waste as you then board a catamaran that takes you on a cruise along the Beagle Channel. Navigate between Chilean and Argentinean islands, viewing sea lions, penguins and the Andean mountains, guided by the lighthouse of the end of the world.
DAY 3Adrenaline Pumping Experiences
Take a deep breath, there’s a lot to fit in during a day packed full of adrenalin-pumping experiences. Expert four-wheel drivers take you for a white knuckle off-road ride, far away from the routine of conventional excursions. The journey finishes with an unforgettable asado and a glass or two of Malbec wine at a refuge in the native Fuegian forest.This really is a thrilling adventure, crossing rivers, defying muddy tracks and passing by the shore of Lake Fagano with breath-taking views. During the evening, enjoy dinner at the restaurant Kuar, located on the waterfront overlooking the Beagle Channel boasting unforgettable panoramic sunsets.
DAY 4Welcome to El Calafate
Take a morning stroll along the Ushuaia’s main street for stunning views of the Beagle Canal. Visit the historic starting point of expeditions to the South Pole and marvel at the treasures of the military prison museum.Continue your journey northwards and fly to El Calafate. This charming village is located on the shore of Lake Argentino and is the base for explorations of the Glaciers National Park. The ice cap runs for an incredible 560 miles and is the origin of 47 major glaciers, including the famous Perito Moreno Glacier. Settle into your hotel and enjoy some free time in this picturesque town.
DAY 5The Perito Moreno Glacier
One of the highlights of any trip to Argentina is a visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the few glaciers still advancing along its imposing 3 mile front. Take a stroll along the boardwalk in front of the giant glacier and observe columns of ice over 20 stories high peeling off the face and crashing into Lago Argentino, creating truly massive icebergs.Watch out for Andean condors and the buff-necked Ibis while listening to the glacier creaking, cracking and calving giant icebergs into the lake with your lunch box and of course a glass of wine! For your evening meal, sample some fantastic examples of local cuisine courtesy of the Patagonia at La Zaina Restaurant’s speciality, braised lamb.
DAYS 6Life on the Ranch
Begin the day with a cruise on Lago Argentino, the largest lake in Argentina, passing by icebergs and a wealth of awe-inspiring glaciers. Disembark at the historic ranch Estancia Cristina, located on the picturesque shoreline.Whether you prefer a quiet day of touring the sites and exploring the area’s history, or more adventurous activities like trekking, horseback riding and 4-wheel-driving—the choice is yours during an insightful visit to a local ranch.
DAYS 7Award Winning Locations
Embark on a scenic road trip to the small mountain village of El Chalten, along the shore of Lake Argentino, past the Patagonian steppe and the Andean mountains. The village is located within the Glaciers National Park at the base of Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy, and recently received second place in Lonely Planet’s ranking of “Best Cities in the World to Know”.Settle into your hotel and prepare for a walk like no other. A local guide will take you on a trekking excursion showcasing the town’s spectacular surroundings where you can immerse yourself in nature and the special spirit of trekking in El Chalten. End your day with a tasty dinner back at your hotel.
DAYS 8The Desert Lake
This morning, following a local breakfast, another day of breath-taking views and stunning scenery awaits: Discover the delights of Desert Lake, a beautiful area in Argentinian Patagonia, formed by melting glacial ice of the Huemul Glacier.Marvel at its spectacular colors, cracks, formations and sounds while immersing yourself in nature. Dive into lunch in the middle of your natural surroundings while soaking up a truly unique atmosphere. Head back to El Chalten for some welcome relaxation before having another traditional Patagonian dinner at your hotel.
DAY 9Welcome to Buenos Aires
Bid goodbye to Patagonia, as you prepare for the next leg of your journey of a lifetime. After breakfast take a scenic drive back to El Calafate for your flight to Buenos Aires, the vibrant capital of Argentina.Get your first impressions of this iconic city by strolling around the local neighborhood of Recoleta, a traditional residential area that provides a true taste of the realities of day to day life in the area. Fall in love with a range of local delicacies during dinner at a traditional restaurant.
DAY 10A Taste of Argentina
Discover the stories behind the Plaza de Mayo and cobblestone streets of San Telmo, the oldest residential neighborhood in Buenos Aires. Experience the original Tango in La Boca and contemplate the modernization of the city while walking along Puerto Madero’s waterfront before seeing the final resting place of Eva “Evita” Peron.During one of the tour’s most special moments, visit Adrian Pallarol´s workshop, the artist who made the Pope´s Grail. Spend an evening wine tasting at the first Sommelier’s’ school of Latin America where you will get to know some of Argentina’s best wines while enjoying some perfectly paired finger food.
DAY 11Time to Tango
During the morning you’ll have time to explore Buenos Aires on your own, indulge in some retail therapy or just relax after 11 days of intense travelling.During the afternoon take part in a tango lesson with a private instructor, so you can return home with a few new moves for the dance floor! Learn about the history of this sensual dance, which has captured the hearts of people right around the world. Top off the day with a dinner to all end all dinners. Devour an asado at the renowned parrilla Don Julio Steakhouse that will delight your taste buds with the best meat you have ever tried—we promise!
DAY 12Bon Voyage Buenos Aires!
Following your last breakfast in Buenos Aires make the most of your final moments in this magical city by taking some free time to snap some last minute pictures and soak up the truly unique atmosphere of this beautiful area.
