NOTE: all dates depart the USA from the international gateway of Atlanta ATL. If you choose a different local departure point this will involve a seperate feeder flight. If you are making your own way to ATL please choose ATL as your local airport.

Please note that if a student is 16 years of age or younger and not traveling on flights with a leader or a parent, the airline may mandate Unaccompanied Minor Services be purchased for travel. Ticket information will be provided to families approximately 3 weeks prior to departure so that these services can be arranged between the parent and the airline direct. All fees associated with these services are the responsibility of the traveler and may be necessary round-trip.

Visit a rescue center that has been tirelessly working to help out the area’s rich and diverse variety of animals. The work carried out by ‘Proyecto Asis’ is vital for the survival of many of the region’s animal populations. Make a meaningful contribution together with the team at the rescue center while taking part in a specially arranged educational activity.

High-octane jungle travel!

Swing among the canopies around the magnificent Arenal Volcano on an adrenalin fueled adventure through the forest. Experience the thrills of thirteen specially designed cables that will take you on a high speed trip through the trees. Look out for cable number twelve –it’s four-hundred and thirty meters long!

Animal adventure

Soak up the sun at the beach and get back to nature in style. Marvel at crystal clear seas, home to a rich variety of animals and vegetation. Seek out iguanas, macaws, monkeys and many species of birds. Experience one of the highlights of the program as you hunt down crocodiles onboard a specially arranged boat tour.

  • DAY 1

    First Impressions…
    Step out into the sun of San Jose, the Costa Rican capital, alongside your fellow People to People travelers and meet your enthusiastic local guide. Soak up your new surroundings as you explore the city for the very first time. Uncover San Jose’s colonial history and Spanish culture during a tour of this breath-taking city.

    Make yourself at home following your arrival at your ideally located hotel and settle down for your first taste of Costa Rican cuisine. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere while tapping in to those cool Latin vibes.

  • DAY 2

    Welcome to the Jungle
    Famed for its fascinating array of natural wonders, it’s no surprise that your first full day in Costa Rica is spent unearthing the treasures that call the jungle habitat outside of San Jose home. Delve deep beneath the canopies around the magnificent Arenal Volcano on an adrenalin fueled adventure through the heart of the forest.

  • DAY 3

    Explosive Fun
    Following a day spent with a rich variety of wild animals, help out their less fortunate brothers and sisters at an animal rescue center. The work carried out by ‘Proyecto Asis’ is vital for the survival of many of the region’s animal populations.Make a meaningful contribution together with the team at the rescue center while taking part in a specially arranged educational activity. Following lunch at a local restaurant, head out on a hike across the Arenal Volcano National Park.
  • DAY 4

    Tropical Rainforests
    Set out into the Sarapiqui Rainforest. Explore the abundant flora and fauna that makes up this lowland tropical rainforest as you trek through lush vegetation. Discover an area rich in bio-diversity and attempt to understand the scientific reasons that lead to certain species thriving over others.

    After a bite to eat, visit La Quinta de Sarapiqui for an insight into a vital part of the forests eco-system –leaf cutter ants! Learn the secrets of a species that exhibits astonishing organization skills on a specially designed educational tour.

  • DAY 5

    Setting Sail
    Embark on a boat tour along the twists and turns of the Sarapiqui River. Wind your way along the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, as you sail serenely past an amazing assortment of river based wild-life you just wouldn’t be able to see any other way.

    Following your tour of the treats of Sarapiqui, it’s time to meet your homestay family for the next few days. Get to know your hosts, specially selected due to your age and interests in order to provide you with the most rewarding experience possible.

  • DAY 6

    Authentic Homestay Experience

    Life’s a Beach
    Make your way to the magnificent Jaco Beach Area, a place of crystal clear seas, home to a rich variety of animals and vegetation. Visit the celebrated Guacalillo Beach for a guided boat tour. Uncover iguanas, macaws, monkeys and many species of birds. During your adventure, don’t forget to keep a look out for the crocodiles!

    Following lunch you’ll be able to relax at the beach (away from the crocs) where you can soak up the sun and get back to nature in style while snapping a selfie or two. On your way back to San Jose, stop off to grab some last minute souvenirs for family and friends at home.

    Destination USA
    Return home from your voyage of self-discovery with a wealth of new friends and memories that will last a life-time.
