Welcome to London

Day 1

Upon your arrival in London, we’ll make the short transfer to your 4-star centrally located hotel, which forms the ideal base for the next few days of insightful talks, exhibitions and events in the capital of England. Once we’re settled in, we’ll take a short stroll to a nearby restaurant for a delicious welcome dinner, which also provides you with the opportunity to meet your fellow travelers in a relaxed environment.

A Journey Through Time

Day 2

On our first full day in London we take a step back in time to 1944. Wartime London is the setting for an extraordinary exploration of President Eisenhower’s life in the city, and also provides us with the opportunity to take a wider look into the Allied Forces preparation for the D-Day landings. During an engaging guided program we relive the Supreme Commander’s day to day activities, where we’ll also have the chance to see the site of his former home and offices.

Following lunch, served in a historic pub boasting a classic British menu close to the Houses of Parliament, we make the short trip to The Cabinet War Rooms as part of our specially created ‘Blitz London’ itinerary. Here, we’ll discover the beating heartbeat of Britain’s military war efforts. The evening’s entrainment includes a trip to London’s famous West-End for a delicious dinner and a show.

Secrets of War

Day 3

After breakfast we travel through the English countryside to Bletchley Park for a private tour of this hugely significant historical site. The former home of the ‘Codebreakers’, who’s work deciphering the codes of the Enigma machine did so much to assist the Allied War effort, offers a fascinating insight in the secrets of WWII. On our way back to London we stop off for a lunch at a traditional country venue. Here you can experience a fundamental aspect of life in the country – The Great British pub.

Spend an evening being entertained in a private London club. Over a specially prepared dinner a former Parliamentarian Patrick Nicholls will provide his unique insight into The British Constitution, the role of the Monarchy and succession, and of course Brexit – The UK’s planned departure from Europe, which by June 2019 should be somewhat clearer!

The Garden of England

Day 4

We begin with a visit to Chartwell, the family home of Winston Churchill. The impressive country house is situated deep in leafy Kent, known as ‘The Garden of England’. Chartwell is home to a huge array of fascinating D-Day exhibits, including a scale model of Mulberry Harbour that was used to co-ordinate the landings, and provides an exclusive insight into the mind of Churchill. Marvel at the landscape that inspired him to paint, and unearth the true story of how he developed his own inimitable style of brick-laying!

From Chartwell we travel to a real hidden gem, a local Kentish vineyard, which will showcase a spectacular selection of award winning wines. These celebrated wines are said to rival some of the very best French vintages, but you can decide for yourself in your own private tasting room! On the journey back to London, we journey through quintessentially English villages before a tantalising dinner in an atmospheric restaurant close to the hotel.

Coast to Coast

Day 5

Upon our arrival on the South Coast of England, we head to Southwick Park to relive the planning of Operation Overlord. Discover the realities of the monumental issues faced by Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces General Dwight D Eisenhower as you walk in the footsteps of heroes during a private tour of the facility.

Lunch is served in a local restaurant close to the coastal city of Portsmouth, a city well-known for its fresh fish and seafood dishes, before a visit to the city’s renowned D-Day Museum. Take a truly fascinating trip through archive films, genuine landing crafts, weapons, and a striking 83 meter Overlord Embroidery to discover a unique re-telling of the D-Day story. Enjoy a meal overlooking Portsmouth harbor before the short transfer to the port and an overnight cruise to France.


Welcome to France

Day 6

As we cruise into the harbor, your first views of France will be accompanied by the rising morning sun. Gaze out over panoramas of the Normandy beaches as we berth in Ouistreham, the port adjacent to the City of Caen. After a traditional French breakfast in a local café overlooking the port, we head to the D-Day landing beaches of Sword Beach and Pegasus.

The picturesque fishing port of Honfleur is our setting for lunch. Here you’ll find the program’s first foray into world renowned French cuisine. We then hop back onto our luxury coach and travel on to the delightful hotel Belle Isle sur Risle. This is a fitting base for the next few days, as it is has been the chosen venue for previous Eisenhower D-Day commemorations held in recent years. This quintessentially French provincial hotel is located near Honfleur and is situated on a river island transformed into five acres of beautifully landscaped parkland.  Dinner is served in the hotel’s stylish conservatory, while the beautiful surroundings offer you the chance to sit back, relax, and soak up the atmosphere.

Remember the Fallen

Day 7

Whether you have visited the beaches of Normandy before or not, there is so much to discover during this specially arranged tour. Our long serving and extremely knowledgeable French guide Anne-Marie provides an in-depth historical perspective of the landings, and also offers a one-of-a-kind insight into the story behind her family’s survival as farmers under Nazi occupation.

Our tour takes us through the hallowed sites of well-documented heroism and horror. Walk the beaches of Utah, Omaha, Gold and Juno before honoring the fallen at the Pointe du Hoc Ranger Monument alongside a very special guest speaker. Lunch will be served at a quaint Normandy restaurant, serving a range of classic French dishes, before we retrace the steps of the landing forces at Omaha Beach during a walk up the dunes to the Colleville Cemetery. Following a wreath laying ceremony at the monument there is the opportunity to investigate family graves, or simply pay your respects.

The Wonders of Paris

Day 8

Today we will travel by luxury coach to Paris, but not before stopping to soak up some of the beauty of regional France. Upon our arrival in Paris, we’ll have lunch served in a family run Brassiere boasting a great selection of famous French dishes and a warm, traditional atmosphere.

We’ll then head to one of the largest and most well-known museums in the world, the Louvre. Explore the un-matched wealth of art, exhibits and artifacts on show, including of course Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.  We’ll get settled in to our central and ideally located hotel before dinner in a nearby Parisian restaurant which showcases an array of French delights.

The City of Light

Day 9

No trip to Paris would be complete without exploring the history and breath-taking beauty of the city. With the help of one of our local guides, we’ll discover the heart of Paris during a visit to the artistic area surrounding Montmartre. We’ll also explore the wonders of the Sacre Coeur Basilica, which boasts one of the best panoramic views of Paris.

Following lunch, we make our way to Eisenhower’s house during the inter-war years, christened “Pont Mamie “by family friends. This action-packed day also includes a visit to Notre Dame Cathedral, located in the middle of the River Seine. Dinner is served in an equally grand location. Enjoy an atmospheric dinner in a typical Parisienne restaurant.

Highlights of Paris

Day 10

This morning we will visit one of the world’s most famous structures – The Eiffel Tower. It is not only a striking piece of architecture, but also serves as the best viewing point in Paris, providing stunning views of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Of course, Paris is also famous for its vast array of shops. Take the chance to explore the Champs Elysees, home to an amazing selection of fashionable boutiques, or simply take the time to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the city.

Our last dinner in the French capital is a real show-stopper. On-board the ‘Don Juan II’, indulge in a Gastronomy Cruise, hosted by the award winning chef Guy Krenzer. He’ll be sharing his passion, expertise and creativity during a one-of-a-kind experience that opens up a world of exciting new flavors and recipes. Tuck into a range of Guy Krenzer’s specially created dishes while sailing past the breath-taking sights on the river bank. This really is the best way to enjoy the magic of the French capital.

Au Revoir!

Day 11

Bid farewell to your traveling companions, and au revoir to your hosts, as you depart on your onward journey. Return home with a wealth of memories and first-hand experiences of the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, shared with like-minded friends, experts, and those most affected by the events of one of the most infamous days in history.
