Day 2

Touch down in Vienna, the capital of Austria. The city is known around the world for its classical music and its imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn Palace, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. Take a sightseeing tour of the city, and join your delegation at a welcome dinner.

This morning, join an open discussion with a Holocaust expert, gaining new insights into this troubled time in European history. Later, ride through Vienna on a private vintage tram, making your way to Schönbrunn Palace, summer residence of the Austrian Emperor. Tonight, join a classical music concert, while walking in the footsteps of celebrated composers like Mozart and Strauss.

Day 4

Experience the incredible natural beauty of the Wachau Valley. The valley was formed over millennia, as the Danube River cut through the region’s cliffs and hills. Visit the Melk Monastery, a large Baroque monastery built on a cliff overlooking the scenic landscape.

Day 5

Arrive in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. With its rich culture and numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Budapest is often to referred to as “Paris of the East.” Take a guided tour of the city’s most significant sights, and finish with a funicular ride up Castle Hill to Buda’s Old Town.

Day 6

Enjoy some free time this morning to explore Budapest. Later, travel to Lake Balaton, a popular vacation spot filled with beautiful beaches surrounded by volcanic hills. Enjoy a bit of rest and relaxation on the lake before heading to Croatia.

Day 7

Set out on a guided sightseeing tour of Croatia’s northwestern capital, Zagreb. Visit Upper Town to see the twin-spired Zagreb Cathedral and 13th-century St. Mark’s Church. Walk up Tkalčićeva Street, lined with outdoor cafés, with time to explore and enjoy lunch at a local market. This afternoon, continue on to the city of Split.

Island Hopping

Day 8

Located on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, Split is well-known for its beaches and the Diocletian’s Palace. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments. This afternoon, set sail on an island-hopping tour off the coast of Split.

Travel to Zadar and get to know the city on a sightseeing tour. The highlight is a visit to the historical old town, an area filled with Roman ruins and medieval churches.

This morning, travel to the Slovenian town of Postojna. Visit the Postojna Cave, one of the most famous and largest cave systems in the world. This natural wonder was used by the German forces in World War II to store aircraft fuel. Later, continue on to Italy, spending the night in Padua.

Florence was the birthplace of the Renaissance, and today it’s a living museum of art, architecture, and history. With the help of an expert guide, visit the Accademia Gallery, where you’ll see Michelangelo’s famous statue David. Then take a guided walk through the city—see the towering Duomo and the bronze doors to the Baptistery, known as the Gates of Paradise.

Travel on to scenic Umbria, and get your body moving with fun challenges, adventure-learning, and team-building activities. Continue today to Vatican City, the center of the Catholic Church and the world’s smallest country. On a guided tour, visit the Vatican Museums, see the frescos of the Sistine Chapel, and walk through St. Peter’s Basilica. You’ll even meet with a member of the Swiss Guard, hearing his tales of guarding the Pope and learning what it takes to join one of the oldest military units in the world.
