Step out into the sun of San Jose, the Costa Rican capital, and meet your local Delegation Manager. Soak up your new surroundings as you explore the city for the very first time. Uncover San Jose’s colonial history and Spanish culture during a tour of this breathtaking city.

The Rainforest

Day 2

Famous for its fascinating array of natural wonders, it’s no surprise that your first full day in Costa Rica is spent unearthing the treasures of the rain forest. Delve deep beneath the canopies around the magnificent Arenal Volcano on an adrenaline-fueled adventure through the heart of the forest. Experience the thrills of thirteen specially-designed zip lines that will take you on a high-speed trip through the trees. Keep an eye out for cable number twelve—it’s 1,312 feet long! Listen to your knowledgeable guides as you look for a range of animals including monkeys, snakes, and sloths.

Day 3

The work carried out by “Proyecto Asis” is essential for the survival of many of the region’s animal populations. Make a meaningful contribution with the team at the rescue center while taking part in a special educational activity. Following lunch at a local restaurant, head out on a hike across the Arenal Volcano National Park. This is no ordinary hike. You will need your waterproofs as you will descend into the canyon, through a series of 5 rappels. 4 of these are alongside or right in waterfalls.

Sarapiqui, Costa Rica

Tropical Rainforests

Day 4

Set out into the Sarapiqui Rainforest. Trek through lush vegetation while exploring the abundant flora and fauna that make up this lowland tropical rainforest. Discover an area rich in bio-diversity and attempt to understand the scientific reasons that lead to certain species thriving over others. After a bite to eat, visit La Quinta de Sarapiqui for a look into a vital part of the forest’s eco-system: leafcutter ants. Learn the secrets of a species that exhibits astonishing organization skills on this educational tour.

Embark on a boat tour through the twists and turns of the Sarapiqui River, winding your way along the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Get to know your hosts, carefully selected based on your age and interests, chosen to provide you with the most rewarding experience possible.

Day 6

Give back to the local community on a genuine and personal level. Lend a helping hand to the team at the Santa Ana orphanage who work tirelessly to provide orphans with a loving and caring home. Discover the intricacies of exactly how this non-governmental and non-profit organization operates on a day-to-day basis. Return to your homestay family in the evening.

Make your way to the magnificent Jaco Beach Area, a place of crystal clear seas and home to a rich variety of animals and vegetation. Visit the celebrated Guacalillo Beach for a guided boat tour. Peel your eyes for iguanas, macaws, monkeys, and many species of birds. On your way back to San Jose, enjoy a stop-off to grab some last-minute souvenirs for family and friends at home.
