Today, you will take the scenic route from Mpumalanga to Johannesburg. Pass by the Three Rondawels, also sometimes called the Three Sisters, and God’s Window, a natural rock formation that allows for spectacular views of the Lowveld and the ravine directly below. After lunch continue your travels, and visit Berlin Falls and Mac Mac Falls – two of South Africa’s most popular waterfalls.
This morning board your flight to Namibia. Travel to Windhoek and join an orientation tour of the city. Later, head into Katutura where you’ll be exposed to the different cultures that live together there and visit local schools.
Wake up early to visit the Namib Naukluft National Park by sunrise. Don’t miss the first rays of sunlight that paint the mountains of sand into a variety of apricot, red and orange, contrasted against a crisp blue skyline. You will be captivated by the surreal Deadvlei surrounded by some of the highest dunes on earth and Sossusvlei, where the dry Tsauchab River ends abruptly amongst dunes. Take the opportunity to walk up one of these majestic dunes to admire the desert landscape beneath. Then visit the Sesriem Canyon, a life sustaining natural phenomenon in the heart of the Namib Desert.
Travel to the harbor town of Walvis Bay. Visit the shallow lagoon, one of the most important wetland areas on the African continent and a RAMSAR World Heritage Site. Over 80% of the African flamingos feed in this lagoon and present a breath-taking picture when they appear in groups. Take the scenic road along the Atlantic to Swakopmund, you will stop at a local’s house for a very well-deserved plated lunch. This lunch is a typical Namibian plate combination of Namibian cuisine including, Kapana, pap, vetkoek and Namibian curried mussels. After lunch, continue to your hotel for check-in and some free time on the beach.
This morning join a dolphin and seal cruise. The trip begins with a tour of the Walvis Bay Harbor and then on to Bird Island past the Russian Trawlers to Pelican Point where you can view the Cape Fur Seal Colony. A variety of birds such as pelicans, flamingos, cormorants, and more can be seen en-route. Tonight, enjoy your final night with your new friends over a a traditional Namibian Steak & Chip dinner.
