Board your flight to the world’s smallest continent, boasting one of the most rich and diverse arrays of nature found anywhere in the world. You’ll lose a day as you cross the various time zones between America and Australia, but don’t worry, you’ll pick it back up again on the way home.
You will be met by our experienced Delegation Manager who will accompany you on your journey in Australia. Welcome to Sydney, one of the world’s most loved cities. Sydney’s laid-back outdoor lifestyle and physical allure make it one of the world’s top cities to visit and live. The stunning harbor provides a dramatic backdrop for the city’s famous icons – the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Iconic beaches – most notably Bondi and Manly – and five major national parks deliver unforgettable outdoor experiences. This afternoon you will learn to play Aussie Rules Football and Cricket with some locals before getting your first glimpse of the city while enjoying dinner in Darling Harbour.
This morning embark on a city sights tour. Take in the famous sights of Sydney including the historic Rocks, Darling Harbour and Sydney Opera House.
Take a leisurely walk to the Sydney Opera House. During this People to People Unique Moment, you will explore every aspect of the building’s 14-year creation and 58-year history. Once you’ve visited areas off limits to the general public and captured photographs from rare vantage points inside the majestic Sydney Opera House, you’ll realize that from the outside you’re only getting half the story.
Travel to Bondi Beach, one of Australia’s most iconic beaches. Enjoy the thrill of surfing beautiful Bondi beach with your own personal instructor. There is no better way to advance your surfing skills. Our private lessons are tailored specifically to meet all your needs. We will provide you with the best possible lesson time and coach so that you develop your surfing at the fastest possible pace while having a fantastic time. Enjoy lunch on the beach.
Depart from Darling Harbour on your Sunset Dinner Cruise. During this cruise you will enjoy spectacular views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge as you cruise the main harbour. At the end of the cruise stroll along the Darling Harbour boardwalk before transferring back to your hotel.
Today you will travel north from Sydney to Newcastle by coach where your Australian Host Families will be waiting for you. During your People to People Homestay, spend two days in the company of a typical Australian family and learn some of the local customs and language.
Meet your fellow travelers and travel by coach up the coast towards the Banana capital of Australia – Coffs Harbour. Break up the journey by visiting the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie. Here you will have the opportunity to see what care the Koalas receive, as well as having your photo taken with one.
Continue your journey North and visit Byron Bay. Here you will stand at Cape Byron – the most Eastern Point of the Australian continent. Stroll on Byron Bay’s Main Beach and watch out for dolphins competing for waves with the local surfers. The Gold Coast is a modern city of glittering high-rise buildings, built around superb beaches, including the world renowned ‘Surfers Paradise’.
Travel north to where the Great Barrier Reef has its most Southern reach, Hervey Bay. Enjoy your time in the afternoon visiting the local shops of Bundaberg with some free time, and conserve some energy for your reef experience.
Embark on an excursion to the Great Barrier Reef today. Your vessel for the day is a luxury, high-speed, 27-meter catamaran that is custom designed for snorkeling and diving on the reef. This is your chance to discover and experience the magnificent underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef and swim with turtles. Lady Musgrave Island is located 50 nautical miles from Bundaberg, with the only navigable lagoon on the entire Great Barrier Reef and is a 45 acre pristine coral cay with 7,000 acres of spectacular surrounding reef and a 3,000 acre protected lagoon. Snorkeler’s of any experience get to explore within the sheltered waters of the reef lagoon.
Snorkel with our resident turtles, get up close to manta rays, swim with clownfish, small reef sharks, Maori Wrasse and witness the majestic humpbacks during their breeding season. Explore the uninhabited island on our informative guided island tour or learn about the different coral and tropical reef fish species and see giant clams on our glass bottom boat.
Today, join your local and Aboriginal guide for an authentic indigenous hunting, gathering and tasting experience of a lifetime. This eco tour will take you back to a time that predates the arrival of Lt Cook in the Endeavour at the Town of 1770 (Seventeen Seventy), Queensland. Travel the coastline to Eurimbula National Park, adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. You will disembark and take an easy bush walking tour with our skipper and indigenous guide. Enjoy a theatrical experience, sample local flavors and learn about the wonderful culture that lived here sustainably for tens of thousands of years. After lunch we travel to the Town of 1770 to meet with a local councilor. Here you will learn first-hand about Australian political system of both local and national levels followed by a Q&A session and afternoon tea.
Experience Outback Australia on a remote cattle station on this unique People to People Farm Stay. Enjoy horse riding, 4WD farm tours, home cooking, campfires, feeding animals, cow milking and red dust! The farm consists of 2,600 acres of land with 400 beef cattle.
Get to know Brisbane by exploring its many wonders. Visit the Botanic Gardens, Anzac Square War Memorial, and Parliament. This impressive urban area was founded upon the ancient homelands of indigenous tribes and is one of the oldest cities in Australia.
