    Overnight flight to Japan

    Arrive in Tokyo
    Meet your travel manager and take in city sights as you travel to your hotel.
  • Day 3

    Understand Japanese Government
    Explore the inner workings of Japanese government at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices. Learn about the Shinto religion at Meiji Shrine, dedicated to the ancestors of the present emperor. See Japanese fashions in the Harajuku district, toys and anime in Kiddyland, and souvenirs galore at the Oriental Bazaar. Make and eat delicious okonomiyaki during a cooking experience at a local restaurant.
  • Day 4

    Inside Japanese Electronics
    See locals bargaining for the perfect fish at Tshukiji Fish Market. Travel through one of Japan’s oldest shopping streets to Asakusa Kannon Temple. Enjoy lunch at a Tokyo ramen house, before getting an insider’s look into Japanese electronics at Panasonic, Sony, or Toyota. Choice: Before travel, help your delegation choose between a high-energy Japanese karaoke experience or a visit to a multiplex Japanese anime arcade this evening.
  • Day 5

    Japanese School Visit
    Take part in a hands-on anime workshop at the Suginami Anime Museum. Get to know Japanese students during a school visit. Meet your home-stay family and begin your four-night experience.
  • Day 6-8

    Japanese Homestay
    Experience complete cultural immersion. During your four-night homestay: Try home-cooked foods and experience Japanese daily life. Learn and practice Japanese. Prepare traditional Japanese dishes or go on a trip to the movies. See your host family’s kimonos and yukata, or other items of cultural importance. Snap photos, laugh, and make new friends!
  • Day 9

    Spectacular Mt.Fuji
    After a sad good-bye to your Japanese hosts, ride an aerial cable car up Mt. Komagatake in Hakone National Park. Drive to Mt. Fuji’s Fifth Station and, if the weather permits, enjoy a hike on Mt. Fuji’s trails. Experience a Japanese onsen, a public bath created by natural hot springs.
  • Day 10

    Natural Hot Springs
    Walk along pathways in the natural onsen area. Take in a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji at Nihondaira. Taste authentic Japanese shabu-shabu hot pot for dinner back in Tokyo.
  • Day 11

    Akihabara Electronic Town
    Take part in a unique cultural activity such as Japanese tea ceremony, sushi making, or origami. Explore Akihabara Electronic Town, a digital wonderland. Learn about Japanese anime, manga, and video gaming. Get to know a Japanese university student during a scavenger hunt to find manga and anime. Learn about cosplay trends in Japan over sweets at a Maid Café, with costumed and role-playing wait staff.
    Optional Activity: Enjoy your final evening in Japan with exciting optional activities, or a an included teacher-led Tokyo shopping excursion.
