Day 2

Arrive at the foot of one of the most famous mountains in the world, Table Mountain, named for its flat top. Take a breathtaking cable car journey to the top of the mountain and enjoy 360º panoramic views of the city of Cape Town and its surrounding natural wonders. Get to know the locals during a delicious welcome dinner, complete with the unmistakable sounds of Djembe drumming. Discover a whole host of rich traditions and tasty dishes while taking part in a variety of specially-arranged activities.

Penguins and Seal Island Cruise

Day 3

Drive out to Boulders Beach in Simons Town, a striking sheltered coastline, home to the region’s famous penguin colony. Under expert guidance, slip on your waterproof gear and explore the penguins’ natural habitat by kayak. After playtime with the penguins, continue on your scenic drive around Chapmans Peak and on to the town of Hout Bay. From here, embark on a leisurely cruise out to see the treasures of Seal Island. Unsurprisingly, this island is home to a number of seals, and offers one of the very best opportunities anywhere in the world to see these animals up close and personal.

Gain fascinating insight into how the region’s nature is harnessed by humans to make a living. Visit an ostrich farm in Oudtshoorn to find out the intricacies of rearing these amazing birds. Delve into the depths of Cango Caves to see their ancient stalactites in a truly amazing network of caverns and caves.

Day 7

Enjoy an sunrise meerkat safari to learn about these charming and endearing creatures from experts. Discover some of South Africa’s more dangerous animals at a crocodile and cheetah wildlife ranch that specializes in the rescue of these endangered species. For your afternoon’s entertainment, head to a game lodge and enjoy an open-air vehicle drive led by a team of knowledgeable guides. Day 8

Join a local eco-excursion that plays host to a variety of educational approaches to environmental conservation. Explore the vital work being carried out by a Rastafarian Community Outreach Center located in the township of Knysna. This really is an eye-opening experience, during which the center leaders will introduce you to their gardens and the rehabilitating nature of their work. Spend the afternoon contributing to the many outreach projects. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact in the local community.

Day 9

Fly from the aptly-named Garden Route to Johannesburg, and begin exploring the many riches befitting a city that began as a 19th Century gold mining settlement. Set off on an immersive orientation of this diverse and amazing place. There is no shortage of cultural and political history to discover in Johannesburg. Stop off at the Apartheid Museum for an introduction to this hugely influential period in South Africa’s turbulent past. Attempt to understand the motivations behind both sides of a hard-won fight that was played out on news broadcasts throughout world.

Discover Soweto

Day 10

Discover the treasures of the Soweto Township on a tour with a difference. Set out on a bicycle ride around this world-famous area under the experienced eye of a local guide who knows all the hidden gems. Your guide will delight in showcasing Soweto’s many historical landmarks while sharing anecdotes of student uprisings. Visit the former home of Nelson Mandela, and current home of Bishop Desmond Tutu. Travel to Mpumalanga and prepare for your Kruger National Park exploration.

Safari: The Big 5

Day 11

Spend an entire day at the Kruger National Park where you will explore one of the most famous game reserves in the world. Take your seat in professional, open-top vehicles alongside highly-trained rangers, and begin your journey into the wild. You’ll be taught the fundamentals of game viewing and will have access to a wealth of in-depth knowledge of the African bush. The main goal for today is to see all of the “Big 5” animals: elephants, rhinoceros, lions, leopards, and buffalo.

Day 12

Spend the morning tackling the unique challenges of white water rafting. During this exhilarating experience, carefully maneuver your raft along the river while spotting animals, fish, and bird life in the surrounding area’s lush vegetation. During the afternoon, it’s time to get to know one of the most majestic animals in South Africa: elephants. Spend time interacting with these magnificent creatures, learn from their experienced handlers, and gain an understanding of just how intelligent these animals truly are.

Day 13

Today you will visit the Cheetah Experience, a non-profit conservation project, dedicated to protecting and preserving the cheetah and other endangered and threatened species. Later, take the scenic route from Mpumalanga to Johannesburg. Pass by breathtaking countryside and authentic village life as you soak up the region’s unique atmosphere.
