Meet The Leaders
Jill is from Hueytown, AL. She has a BS in Business Administration with a focus in Finance and Accounting and an MA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Samford University. She has also received her Gifted Certification P-12 from the University of Alabama and a National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist. She also coaches the math team, Science Olympiad, Scholar’s Bowl, drama club and Future Problem Solving team in addition to tutoring students for the ACT. Her love of travel began during her college semester abroad, and she now loves to share the experience with her students. She has been a leader on eight People to People programs. Jill loves trivia nights, beach trips, hiking, reading, writing and theater.
“I am passionate about sharing the adventures of travel with as many students as possible. I encourage you to try things outside your comfort zone. Please feel free to come to me if you need help with anything. We are going to have the time of our lives!”
Doug is from Erie, Pennsylvania. He studied art and architecture at the University of Michigan. He now teaches art at Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie. Doug has traveled with People to People regularly since 2002. He has been to twenty-four countries on four continents. In addition to his love of travel, Doug loves architecture and design, automobiles, and playing racquetball.
“Having traveled with People to People for so many years, it’s always so gratifying for me to see how the students grow and change through the experience. I also love Florence! It’s a highlight for any European program, and I am excited to experience the city with the students.”
Jan is from Kansas City, MO. She received her BA from the University of Kansas and her Master’s from Baker University. Jan has been a teacher for many years, and also tutors students after school. She has traveled throughout most of Europe, the Baltics, Japan, Costa Rica, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Tahiti, and the French Polynesian Islands. Her favorite hobby is travel, but she also loves designing pearl necklaces that are sold in a boutique in Kansas City.
