Meet The Leaders
Cindy is from Mt. Prospect, Illinois. She has a MAS in Teaching, an MBA in International Business and Business Policy and a BA in Finance. Cindy works full-time as a CFO for a local start-up company and serves as a regular substitute teacher at Lincoln Middle School. She has led six People to People programs and has acted as a teacher-leader for two PTPI’s Global Youth Leadership Forums. Cindy likes to travel as much as possible – she has only two US states and two continents left to check off her travel bucket list! Besides her love of travel, Cindy likes to ski, play soccer, bike, hike, read and learn. She strongly believes in giving back to her community and is very involved in her local soccer club and several nonprofit organizations.
“I love to revisit places I have already been and experience them anew through the eyes of students. The places we are visiting on this program are all places I first visited as a middle school student when my family lived in Europe. I am really looking forward to seeing how this group of students reacts to these iconic places.”
Amy is from Minneapolis, MN. She received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Florida State University and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. She has worked as a school social worker for the past sixteen years. This will be Amy’s fourth People to People program. She has led groups to Europe, Alaska and Costa Rica. She has traveled to forty-six of the fifty states and has also traveled to Mexico, the Caribbean and Greece. When she’s not planning her next adventure, Amy likes to practice yoga, read and hang out with her fifteen year old daughter, Hailey.
“I am a fun and positive person and find joy in meeting new people and seeing the world! I am especially looking forward to visiting Rome with our students. I can’t wait to start our adventures together!”
Michelle is from Coon Rapids, Minnesota. She received her Master’s in Education from St. Mary’s University. She has been teaching for the last twenty-eight years. She has traveled to Paris, London, Bath, Edinburgh, Cancun and Cozumel. Michelle’s passions include traveling, building relationships and learning new things. In her spare time, she likes to read, play card games and golf.
“One of my given nicknames is ‘Mama Hen’ because I always look after my ‘peeps’ wherever I go. I can’t wait to meet our students and travel on this program. I am most looking forward to seeing Italy with the students this summer.”
