The history of Peru spans thousands of years. And, no matter where you go in this mystical country you will see evidence of a rich and ancient history. Student Ambassadors can:
  • Take a train through the mountains to explore mystical Machu Picchu, the "City of the Incas." This 15th century Incan site was abandoned by its people around 1570 and wasn’t rediscovered until 1911 by Hiram Bingham. There are many theories about what Machu Picchu meant to the Incan people and why it was abandoned. No matter what the reason, Machu Picchu is magical.
  • Trek up to the Ollantaytambo Fortress, which acted as a strong hold for the Incas during the Spanish conquest in the 15th century.
