On August 22, 2006 People to People Ambassador Programs became the first organization to be awarded the Cavaliere per la Pace (Knight of Peace Award) from International University in Assisi, Italy . Considered one of the most important titles for the curriculum vitae of the Nobel Prize, previous honorees include Mother Teresa, former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and Pope John Paul II.
