Student delegations explore people and places across the world, engage in fun and educational activities, and make friends along the way.
These programs offer students the opportunity to experience new cultures and create connections locally and globally.

People to People Moments
- Be welcomed into a South African home for dinner, and learn more about local life.
- Spend some class time with local students, and compare notes on school systems.
- Meet a former political detainee of Robben Island as he talks you through its bleak history.
- Help meet local needs through more than 20 hours of group service projects in cooperation with the hosting community in local schools, organizations, and orphanages.

Top Program Activities
- Go on safari in the Bushveld area of Kruger National Park, and watch for South Africa’s big five—leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant, and rhino–in their natural environment.
- Work side-by-side with inspiring volunteers in disadvantaged communities and orphanages.
- Gaze into the stunning night sky as you listen for lions roaring in the distance.

Cape Town, South Africa
- Explore Robben Island with a former political detainee to learn about the notorious island’s past. Then learn about the island’s future at Robben’s only school.
- Discover where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet off Cape Point.
- Observe the resident penguins on Boulders Beach.
- Witness the astonishing native and imported flora at the Kirstenbosch gardens and try your hand at identifying a few with local school children while learning about conservation.
- Spend a day in a local primary school, helping students with their projects, including sharing lessons you have prepared pre-travel.
Johannesburg, South Africa
- Explore the famous South West Township, better known as Soweto, and visit Nelson Mandela’s family home.
- Try your hand at the rhythms of Africa in a drumming circle.
- Work with children in a local orphanage by helping with building upkeep, homework, meal prep, or just encouragement through friendly conversation.
- Experience Lesedi Cultural Village for an introduction to some of the traditional cultures of South Africa as well as your opportunity to try a variety of local flavors.
- Visit the groundbreaking Apartheid Museum.
Tshukudu Bush Camp, South Africa
- Learn about the lion-breeding project, and do your part to help.
- Watch for South Africa’s big five—leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant, and rhino—in their natural environment.
- Learn from your bush guide about this amazing environment, and get up close and personal with a few of its residents!
- Spend the clear African nights around the campfire at the boma, a traditional circular meeting spot, at the bush camp, and don’t be surprised if curious monkeys or hornbills come in to get a closer look at you and your fellow Ambassadors!
