People to People moments
- Experience an exclusive speaker panel on Capitol Hill composed of current or former members of Congress and staff as they address and discuss important current events.
- Hear an inspiring keynote address from retired Air Force Brigadier General Carl Reddel, Executive Director of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission.
- Visit the new U.S. Institute of Peace headquarters and see the Global Peacebuilding Center.
- Learn the skills it takes to become an international peacebuilder in an exclusive international-conflict resolution workshop.
- Savor international flavors and meet diplomatic officials at an embassy dinner.

Day 1
Welcome to America's capital
- Proceed through registration, and join your fellow Leadership Ambassadors for welcome activities while your family attends orientation.
- Participate in your first leadership-group meeting, and learn more about your teacher leader, your group, and the program's activities.
- Find out more about the history of People to People Ambassador Programs, and get to know the staff who will be guiding you through the program.
- Hear from an inspiring guest speaker.
- Relax with your roommates before bed checks and lights out.
Day 2
Understanding U.S. government
- Enjoy breakfast with your leadership group at the hotel.
- Board the motor coach, and meet your driver and delegation manager for the week.
- Learn more about the branches of government as you explore the United States Capitol building and Capitol Visitor Center.
- Experience a Congressional speaker panel on Capitol Hill composed of current or former members of Congress and staff as they address and discuss important current events.
- Share lunch with fellow Leadership Ambassadors in the district before making your way to see the Supreme Court and Library of Congress.
- Soak in the history at the Lincoln Memorial as you stand on the spot where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech, and then visit D.C.'s newest memorial: The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial.
- Take some time to reflect on the morning's events while your group departs for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
- Continue your museum exploration at the National Museum of American History.
- Sample international cuisine and hear from accomplished speakers in the field of international diplomacy at an embassy dinner.
- Share your thoughts on the day's events with your peers during your leadership meeting.
Day 3
Building a new nation
- Board the motor coach for the Jamestown Settlement.
- Learn about the people of 17th-century Virginia: Powhatan American Indians and European and African immigrants.
- Envision the Powhatan way of life in a re-created village featuring reed-covered houses.
- Enter the triangular wooden palisade of James Fort to see the thatch-roofed, wattle-and-daub homes of the early settlers.
- Climb aboard an early American vessel at Jamestown Settlement's pier, and learn more about the four and a half months settlers spent sailing on it from England.
- Travel down the road to Colonial Williamsburg, where you'll experience the life of 18th-century colonists in this early American city.
- Search for souvenirs in Williamsburg's quaint shops.
- Share your thoughts on the day's events with your peers during your leadership meeting.
Day 4
Remembering the past, building the future
- Board your motor coach for Arlington National Cemetery. Once there, walk among the graves of thousands of fallen soldiers who are honored by their country for their service.
- Make your way up to John F. Kennedy's grave to observe the Eternal Flame.
- Witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and understand the impact each soldier's life made on this country.
- Reflect on the atrocities of war at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where you will experience the exhibit Remember the Children: Daniel's Story. Daniel, age 10, is a composite of the Jewish children who experienced the war.
- Visit the new U.S. Institute of Peace headquarters and see the Global Peacebuilding Center.
- Take part in an exclusive international-conflict resolution workshop at the U.S. Institute of Peace.
- Lay a commemorative wreath at the World War II Memorial before making your way to dinner.
- Participate in your nightly leadership meeting upon arrival at the hotel.
Day 5
National treasures and celebration
- Hear an inspiring keynote address from retired Air Force Brigadier General Carl Reddel, Executive Director of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission.
- Head into Washington, D.C., and enjoy an exclusive, top-secret breakfast at the International Spy Museum. Then, assume your cover and make your way through the world's largest collection of spy gadgets. Learn about espionage, secret messages, disguises, and much more at this hands-on museum.
- Continue your exploration of the region's monuments and learn about memorials like the Marine Corps War Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and Jefferson Memorial.
- Board your motor coach for one last excursion—a fun dinner cruise celebration on the Potomac River.
- Return to your hotel for a chance to pack, and have your final leadership meeting before saying goodnight.
Day 6
Farewell
- Awake early for your family's arrival or transport via private shuttle to the airport.
- Enjoy a final breakfast, and bid farewell to your new friends.
