Day 1
Welcome to America's capital

• After registration, join your fellow Student Leaders for welcome activities while your family attends orientation.
• Participate in your first leadership-group meeting to learn more about your teacher leader, your group, and program activities.
• Find out more about the history of People to People, and get to know the staff who will be guiding you through the program.
• Join a former member of Congress to discuss the importance of honoring America's veterans.
• Relax with your roommates before bed checks and lights out.

Day 2
Understanding U.S. history

• Enjoy breakfast with your leadership group at the hotel.
• Board the motor coach to meet your driver and delegation manager, who is your guide for the week.
• Explore the Capitol, and learn more about the branches of government.
• Snap your picture in front of the White House.
• Get the scoop at the Newseum, an interactive experience that traces five centuries of news-gathering history and technology.
• Pay special attention to the power of underground news at the Newseum's fascinating exhibit on the Berlin Wall.
• Continue your exploration of the region's memorials by stopping at breathtaking monuments, including the Lincoln Memorial.
• Pay your respects at the Korean War and Vietnam veterans memorials.
• Share your thoughts on the day's events with your peers during your leadership meeting.

Day 3
Remembering the past, building the future

• Learn about the legacy of General George Washington at the Washington Monument.
• Read Thomas Jefferson's values—inscribed on his memorial—to understand the liberties for which American soldiers continue to risk their lives.
• Enjoy a special breakfast, and hear from an enlisted Marine at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
• Remember the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of American soldiers and their families at the World War II Memorial.
• Visit the Smithsonian Institution—the world's largest museum complex.
• Participate in your nightly leadership meeting upon arrival at the hotel.

Day 4
Celebrate Veterans Day

• Hear an inspiring Veteran's Day Keynote address from Brigadier General Carl Reddel, USAF (Ret.), Executive Director of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission
• Honor living veterans in a meaningful way during a volunteer project at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
• Board your motor coach for Arlington National Cemetery. Once there, walk among thousands of fallen soldiers honored by their country for their service.
• Make your way up to John F. Kennedy's gravesite to observe the Eternal Flame.
• Lay a commemorative wreath at a prominent war memorial during a special ceremony.
• Trace the history of the Marine Corps War Memorial depicting the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima.
• Say goodbye to your fellow Student Leaders during a final dinner.

Day 5
Farewell

• Wake up early to prepare for your family's arrival or transport via private shuttle to the airport.
• Enjoy your final People to People breakfast.
