Day 1 – Orientation
- Proceed through registration at Tulane University, and join your fellow People to People Student Leaders for welcome activities while your family attends orientation.
- Enjoy the welcome dinner and opening address by your primary leader.
- Find out more about the history of People to People Ambassador Programs, and get to know the staff who will be guiding you through the program.
- Relax with your roommates before bed checks and lights out.
Day 2 – Challenge yourself to go further
- Receive instruction about completing your community-service action plan.
- Be inspired by a guest motivational speaker.
- Help rebuild the New Orleans community through hands-on service projects, whether repairing damaged community centers, building new homes, donating time at local food banks, or helping with city beautification projects.
- Explore the lively French Quarter, the oldest and most famous neighborhood in the city of New Orleans.
- Work through the four key steps for constructing your community-service action plan during student leadership meetings.
Day 3 – Leadership in Action: make a difference
- Continue community service projects to strengthen and renew New Orleans.
- Explore the eerily beautiful landscape of the Louisiana bayou by boat.
- Glimpse fascinating swamp creatures like alligators, nutria, turtles, and gar.
- Gain insights into the American South as you explore a former plantation.
- Engage with your peers during student leadership meetings.
Day 4 – Small ideas, big rewards
- Hear from a guest speaker about community service in action.
- Continue your service to the residents of New Orleans.
- Visit and dine on New Orleans’ Riverwalk, overlooking the Mississippi River.
- Join in at your student leadership meeting to create a personal action plan.
Day 5 – Take action, get out there!
- Get your hands dirty once more, to help restore the local community.
- Renovate area houses and schools to encourage families’ return to the region.
- Listen to personal stories from Hurricane Katrina victims and others you have helped throughout the week.
- Contribute to your student leadership meeting as you talk about active listening and conflict resolution.
Day 6 – Leadership in Action project
- Present your community-service action plan to your peers and teacher leaders.
- Spend one last day volunteering in the New Orleans area.
- Review your progress through a credit evaluation with your teacher leader.
- Bid adieu to New Orleans with a magical Mardi Gras-style gala.
- Feast on famous Creole cuisine and dance to the music of a live brass band.
Day 7 – Farewell and departure
- During the early morning, bid farewell to your new friends.
- Greet your family or be transported via private shuttle to the airport.

If substitution is required, we make every effort to feature comparable events to retain the content and quality of the program.
