Educators have exciting opportunities to experience domestic and international travel as leaders on People to People Ambassador programs. Qualified educators who are chosen to lead delegations receive all-expenses-paid travel to exciting destinations within the United States and around the world, comprehensive training, and 24/7 support from the People to People response team.

Leader Qualifications
People to People Student Ambassador Programs
- Must be 21 or older
- May be teachers or retired teachers, counselors, school/pediatric nurses, and administrators
- If not a teacher, must have three or more years' experience with youth
- If a teacher, must be state-certified and have at least two years' classroom experience as teacher in charge
- Must be able to commit to eight to 10 months of pre-travel interaction with delegates, including interviews, information meetings, and 12 hours of orientation meetings
- Must be able to participate fully in all travel experiences including but not limited to walking more than six miles a day, handling luggage, and providing up to three weeks of delegate supervision

Teacher Leaders
- Must be 21 or older
- May be teachers, school administrators, and counselors
- May be junior or senior college students majoring in education or a field relating to one of our Career Leadership Summits
- May be members of a profession that relates to one of our Career Leadership Summits
- Must be able to participate fully in all travel experiences including but not limited to walking more than six miles a day, handling luggage, and providing up to three weeks of delegate supervision
International Chaperones
- Must be 21 or older
- Must accompany students from the country from which chaperones are traveling
- Must serve as the point of contact for the students they are accompanying to the programs
- Must cover the entire cost of their plane tickets
- Must be able to participate fully in all travel experiences including but not limited to walking more than six miles a day, handling luggage, and providing up to three weeks of delegate supervision
International Inbound Leaders
- Must be 21 or older
- May be teachers, school administrators, and counselors
- May be junior or senior college students majoring in education or a field relating to one of our Career Leadership Summits
- May be members of a profession that relates to one of our Career Leadership Summits
- Must pay for their own flights to the program (and will be eligible for reimbursement of up to $400 each)
- Must be able to participate fully in all travel experiences including but not limited to walking more than six miles a day, handling luggage, and providing up to three weeks of delegate supervision

This presentation is for all teacher leader applicants and must be watched prior to an interview. It provides a brief overview of People to People Leadership Ambassador Programs, including information on the different programs, the application process, responsibilities of a teacher leader, and what can be expected while on a program.

Program Overview
Please review the following information before applying.
Leadership Agreement
It is agreed that the leader will adhere to and enforce the travel- and personal-conduct policies established by the program office as outlined in program materials, including the leader guide and the Ambassador Leader Travel Handbook. Leaders will receive extensive training on these resources prior to travel in order to be prepared to adhere to our standards.
Responsibilities of the leader:
- Promote and represent People to People Ambassador Programs
- Attend leader-training sessions offered in your area or virtually
- Successfully complete online training requirements
- Become familiar with all student materials
- Develop and grow as an educator
- Complete CPR training
- Attend and facilitate orientation meetings as required by the program office*
- Participate in the entire travel program to fully gain benefits that can be taken back to the classroom
- Accept any available travel assignment willingly
- Comply with program office guidelines
- Put pre-travel education and experience into practice by:
- Interviewing program applicants and evaluating their suitability for participation*
- Responsibly leading and mentoring participants
- Assuming responsibility for the safety and well-being of students
- Demonstrating diplomacy, helping resolve travel issues, and modeling a positive attitude
- Communicating with other leaders, coaches, travel managers, and program office staff in a professional manner
- Instructing and aiding participants as they earn academic credit
- Evaluating participants on the completion of their academic credit
- Supervising and appropriately disciplining student participants
The leader may recommend additional leaders or the selection, transfer, or withdrawal of program participants, but the program office specifically reserves final authority in all matters concerning program participation.
The leader may not travel on the same delegation as his or her son or daughter.
The leader has no authority to incur financial liability without prior authorization or to alter in any way the terms and conditions of the program published in the student or leader application, including such items as payment schedules, withdrawal requirements, deadlines, etc.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained herein, the program office reserves the right to remove a leader either prior to or during the program for any reason whatsoever, with or without cause, without any liability or obligation to the leader.
During travel, leaders agree to:
- Be conscientious and compassionate
- Communicate daily and in a positive manner with other leaders and delegation managers to ensure a successful program
- Lead students or athletes on flights*, group transportation, and in all activities
- Assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of delegates
- Be available to stay longer or return early if circumstances require
- Work with local staff and airlines to document and resolve lost-luggage issues on behalf of students*
- Address and document medical- and health-related issues, including securing treatment if needed and providing counseling to homesick students
- Communicate to all appropriate parties, including the program office and parents, in the event of illness, injury, disciplinary incident, etc.
- Document disciplinary incidents and impose appropriate consequences as laid out in the Ambassador Leader Travel Handbook
- Perform room checks and monitor curfews
- Counsel and support students throughout travel
*Not required for Leadership Ambassador Programs leaders
